RedHotMinx is a collaboration between two friends and artists: Leigh Armstrong of Magick Minx Productions and Sally Carver of RedHotSal Designs. Leigh first met Sally when she took a lesson in glass bead making at Sally's studio in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Sally then reciprocated with a lesson in Precious Metal Clay (PMC) at Leigh's studio in Kirby Mallory, just a few miles away.
Whilst both artists decided that their strengths probably lay in their own chosen medium they soon forged a friendship and professional relationship. Leigh and Sally are both established teachers - Leigh in Precious Metal Clay and Sally in Lampwork Glass Bead making - and both run full time businesses in PMC and beadmaking separately.
RedHotMinx is a two day course which will explore the possibilities of using both media, hot glass and PMC, separately and combined together. The course will be held at Diana East's Studio 19 in Enderby Leicestershire, which is a wonderfully well appointed studio complete with all equipment and tools.
Course requirements are minimal - you don't have to have make a glass bead or touched any PMC before - Leigh and Sally will teach you all you need to get going in these wonderfully addictive and creative media. Conversely - if you already do a little PMC or know the basics of beadmaking and wish to explore the possibilities of mixing these media then this course will also be ideal. To get an idea of the course here's Sally demonstrating a plunged eye bead on Day 1 of January's course:
